He has a master’s degree in education, specializing in international studies and has worked at Aalto University since 2007. Since 2009 he has worked on his doctorate, which specializes in service design in healthcare. Currently he divides his work time between research of co-design methods in the Atlas-project (http://atlas-research.fi) and design consultancy work at Diagonal (http://diagonal.fi). He spent September 2013 as a visiting scholar at the DESIS Lab in Parsons New School for Design in New York.
His research focuses on utilizing service design methods in healthcare. In the research he deals with issues regarding patient experience, patient-centered care, human-centered care environments and healthcare-oriented design methods. He teaches, gives lectures and hosts workshops in the area in Finland and abroad.
